Marijuana Addiction Symptoms - How To Know If You Or Someone You Love Is Addicted To Cannabis

Effects of THC
The effects of the THC in marijuana are what make consuming cannabis so desirable. THC is a chemical that binds with certain receptors in the brain and create a "high" for the person smoking or eating the marijuana leaves and/or flowers. It is possible to become addicted to cannabis, which has given rise to a multitude of support programs, help centers, and hot lines. Each of these provides a connection for the marijuana abuser to locate someone who will help him/her stop using cannabis. Here are some of the major marijuana addiction symptoms.
Pay close attention and consider how much and to what degree each may affect you.
Tried To Quit and Failed
An addict may realize that it's time to quit smoking marijuana and will be very gung-ho about doing so. When this desire to quit fails miserably, then locating a detox center might be the next step. People who try to quit cold turkey and end up giving in to their cravings rarely want to try to quit on their own again.
Depression...
Depression - Chemistry within the brain is directly connected to
depression. Ingesting marijuana affects people differently. Some will
get depressed when they consume cannabis and others will only get
depressed when they try to stop smoking or eating marijuana.
No Motivation
Habitual cannabis smokers usually lack the motivation to do anything
productive. This lack of motivation can become so severe that people
have lost jobs. The addiction to marijuana can be so severe that the
only thing the addict wants to do is sit around the house and smoke
marijuana all day.
Anxiety
Anxiety is another trait that can be present when marijuana is smoked or when a heavy user tries to quit ingesting cannabis. It will ultimately depend on the person. Marijuana abusers who have panic attacks when they quit smoking usually go right back to using cannabis to eliminate this severe anxiety.
Relationship Issues
People who are severely addicted to marijuana have a hard time interacting with people who don't use this substance. They often feel more comfortable being around other marijuana users. This can drive friends and family members away, since they usually feel uncomfortable around users of cannabis.
Anger
Most people find cannabis to have a calming affect on them. When many stressful situations arise and anger levels increase, a moderate user of marijuana can easily turn into a heavy user. When anger issues are prevalent, people who are heavy users of marijuana feel they can only deal with their anger by smoking a joint.
Priorities Have Drastically Changed
With adulthood comes
responsibility, but having an addiction often shifts this responsibility
from priorities to desires. The urge to obtain marijuana is sometimes
greater than the necessity of paying rent, taking care of tuition costs,
or even making a car payment.
An Increase In Defensiveness
When confronted about marijuana abuse,
many addicts will become overly defensive. They feel they are being
attacked about their lifestyle and tend to be more aggressive than
usual. If any of these marijuana addiction symptoms are present in you
or a friend, then it might be time to seek an outside source of help.
Addiction ... Reality...

Before I became a Christian about 30 years ago, I used marijuana. People say that it is not dangerous, but I disagree. Particularly your comments about relationship issues strike a chord. Marijuana users become isolationists and no longer attend important functions such as wedding, funerals, etc. They just want to be with other users. This is has long-term adverse effects on the family.
Love the information you provided here.
My brother used to smoke marijuana, and he became extremely depressed. It wasn't until he started getting suicidal that he realized just how serious it all was and kicked the habit (and his pot-smoking friends!).

This applies to other addictions as well. Alcohol, video games, drugs, surfing the net, etc. Anything that you learn here, use the same concepts and you will succeed. :3
